Travel at the Right Time

Travel at the Right Time

The best months to travel in Brazil and around the world.

Plan your trip for the right time of year!

Choosing the best time to travel can make all the difference! Imagine arriving at your dream destination only to find everything closed because it is low season—or getting several days of rain when you planned to enjoy a beautiful beach.

To avoid surprises and make the most of every trip, it helps to understand the weather, high and low seasons, and events taking place throughout the year.

Whether you are traveling in Brazil or abroad, every destination has an ideal time to visit. Here are some of the best times to enjoy different regions of Brazil and the world.

1. Best times to travel in Brazil

Northeast

Destinations such as Jericoacoara, Porto de Galinhas, Maragogi, and Fernando de Noronha are ideal from September to March, when the weather is drier and the water is clear. Avoid April through July, which tends to be rainier across much of the region.

South and Southeast

It depends on the kind of trip you want:

  • Summer (December to March): perfect for beaches and waterfalls in Rio de Janeiro and along the coast of São Paulo.
  • Winter (June to August): great for enjoying cold-weather destinations such as Gramado and Campos do Jordão.

Keep in mind: holidays and peak season drive up prices and bring larger crowds.

Amazon and Pantanal

From May to September, the weather is drier and better suited to outings and wildlife watching. Avoid December through April, when rainfall is heavy.

Central-West (Chapada dos Veadeiros, Bonito, Brasília)

The best time is from May to September, when the weather is drier and trails are easier to access. Avoid the rainy season from December to March.

2. Best times to travel internationally

Europe

  • Spring (April to June) and fall (September to November): pleasant weather, fewer tourists, and more relaxed sightseeing.
  • Winter (December to February): ideal for seeing snow, skiing, or visiting Christmas markets.
  • Summer (July and August): great for beaches, but expect warmer weather and larger crowds.

United States

  • New York and the East Coast: consider spring (April to May) and fall (September to October).
  • Florida and California: October to May is ideal if you want to avoid hurricane season and extreme heat.
  • Disney parks: visit from January to March or in September, when the parks tend to be quieter.

Asia

  • Thailand, Indonesia, and the Philippines: visit from November to April, when the weather is dry and stable.
  • Japan: spring (March to May) brings cherry blossoms; fall (September to November) is just as beautiful, with golden scenery and pleasant weather.

South America

  • Patagonia: visit from November to March for longer days and accessible hiking trails.
  • Machu Picchu: May to September is best, during the dry season.
  • Buenos Aires and Santiago: good year-round, but fall (March to May) brings mild weather and beautiful scenery.

Traveling at the right time can transform your experience—it helps you avoid disappointment, save time and money, and make unforgettable memories. Knowing the ideal weather, season, and events for each destination is the first step toward a well-planned, easy, and enjoyable trip.

Now it is your turn: choose your next destination, take your time planning, and enjoy every second of the journey!
